News: Ai Weiwei's Sunflower seeds at the Tate

This installation by Ai Weiwei is the latest in the Unilever series at The Tate Modern. A team of 1600 people in China produced 100 million of these sunflower seeds using porcelain and painting them by hand.

It was intended that the work should be interactive, with visitors free to walk on the porcelain seeds. Unfortunately the dust from the seeds proved to be a health and safety hazard so now the work can only be viewed and not touched.

The installation will remain at the Tate until 2nd May 2011
